3 WORDS: Read These Books. (But, only if you want a better business)

Reading is one of my favorite hobbies. I’m not going to lie, sometimes it’s romance novels but a lot of the time it’s business books.

Even when I’m not working IN my business, I’m working ON my business techniques, strategies and overall knowledge.

Reading books is a way to learn that is not only affordable, but is also essential to running a great business.

My theory is if you ever want to get inside someone’s brain READ THEIR BOOK. Authors put their heart and souls in their books.

I’ve written three books – two are what I would call “mini books” and the other one is a big book. It’s called “The Boss in Bunny Slippers: A Woman’s Guide to Virtual Leadership.”

“Intelligence will never stop being beautiful, knowledge is power.”

Keep reading to find out 4 ways reading books will help your business. I even give you a few of my own favorite books (with no affiliate links.)

 >> No. 1: Enhance Your Mindset

A crucial part of becoming successful has to do with your mindset.

I’m sure you’ve heard “what you think, you become,” and I fully believe that having a positive mindset will increase your success in the long run.

Reminder: Confidence is key.

When it comes to your mindset you should be:

  • A risk taker
  • Creative
  • Persistent
  • Have vision
  • A leader

Actions follow thoughts. If you’re thoughts are productive, inspirational and focused then you’re on the right track to accomplishing your goals.

My favorite book about personal development and self-improvement is Think and Grow Rich.

Dreams don’t work, unless you do. . . Read it and thank me later 😉

Another book that helps you get your money mindset up to par is Get Rich, Lucky Bee (Bee is short for another word but I’ll let you figure that out).

I can’t begin to tell you how important this book was in my life. I have my private clients read it when I get the first inkling that there are money mindset issues going on in their beautiful brains.

>> No. 2: Make Your Systems + Operations More Efficient (and effective)

As a systems agent, there’s one thing you have to know: I am obsessed with all things business systems. I’m a systems thinker and love technology, but I understand that not everyone loves systems and technology as much as me.

When it comes to your business, I can’t stress enough how important it is to have systems and great operations in place.

If you’re not documenting repeatable systems, then you’re wasting tons of your own valuable time.

The #1 problem with a lot of businesses these days is that they lack proper systems.

And…without proper systems, your business results are inconsistent. This is why I’m obsessed with my signature offering which is doing “done for you” business maps for my clients.

Systems…

  • Automate your business
  • Make you more profit
  • Save you time
  • Confirm you’re getting (the right) things done

My three favorite Systems & Operations books are:

eMyth (dispels the myths surrounding starting your own business)

Double Double (a growth-focused approach)

Essentialism (getting more done in less time)

I also have an online Course about Systems to Sell you can check out if you are ready to put a system around your sales process and make more money in less time.

 >> No. 3: Understanding The Entrepreneurship Journey

Call me crazy but…I believe you can have it all and be a profitable entrepreneur without sacrificing what’s important.

As an entrepreneur, your #1 role is to hold the vision for your company. You must prioritize working on your business to working in your business.

I’ve worked with several women entrepreneurs over the years. If you’re like most entrepreneurs, you get more stressed on vacation than not because when you’re not working, nothing happens.

Entrepreneurs tend to have thousands of ideas running through their heads daily. (I know I do).

By narrowing down a focus and establishing core values you can help organize those thoughts into relevant/irrelevant objectives.

Here are two books about entrepreneurship that have helped me along the way:

Four Hour Work Week (living more and working less)

$100 Start Up (how to work with purpose)

 >> No. 4: Becoming a Sales & Marketing Expert

Without sales and marketing, you don’t have much of a business. It takes being visible and transacting for your future customers to know who you are, what you sell and how to transact with you.

But…are you spending too much time (and money) marketing your business?

Your Marketing System is the catalyst to your business. It drives visibility which leads to people knowing who you are and buying what you are selling.

I find entrepreneurs aren’t using a consistent marketing strategy that operates as a tried-and-true trusted system.

Over the years, I’ve realized that my revenue (and my clients’ revenue) correlates with exactly what my calendar looks like.

The more time you allocate to serving your ideal clients, prospecting for new clients and doing strategic marketing, the more money you make.

Marketing done right is:

  • Simple and consistent (because it works)
  • Supports what you are naturally good at doing
  • Doesn’t feel like a “chore” (because you like to do it)
  • Is a balance between online, social media and in-person

There’s no need to complicate your marketing efforts.

Stick with one marketing strategy in each area of In-Person, Online and Social Media to maximize your time.

Done right your ideal customers will just “see you everywhere.”

These books will tremendously help your sales and marketing strategies:

Vlog like a Boss (complete guide to video blogging)

Book Yourself Solid (tips to getting more clients than you can handle)

Launch (just like the book says…learn how to launch your products + services)

Invisible Machine (automated email campaigns)

I have read (and re-read) all of these books that I recommended. I’m so thankful for the experts that put out great books and spill their guts with all the information that entrepreneurs need to know.

In summary, here’s all the great resources I mention:
